This is not about "Jewel in the Palace". Lady Choi just reminds me of a Filipina veteran volleyball player and that is Amelia "Amy" Guangco.
I have this renewed respect for her as a player when I saw her latest game playing as team captain for the PCU Dolphins against their NCAA archrival San Sebastian Lady Stags. She displayed much composure and experience despite fatigue and elbow injury.
In the final plays of the match in the 5th set and trailing SSC, Guangco had a couple of smart plays on the net varying her shots that caught the opponent's defense off guard. She maintained her focus as she served bringing them into a deuce. Bending low, Amy dug a crucial spike which was set to Bernardo for the win. In jubillation, Guangco and the rest of the team cried as if they had already won the championship crown.
You can catch the Shakey's VLeague every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 pm on ABC 5. Live games are held at the Ateneo Gym every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday starting at 4 pm.
